Mira's Story

Mira, our 4-year-old daughter, lived her everyday life peacefully.

She danced, sang, ran, rode a bike, everything that was appropriate for her age.

Then one October day, during a period of illness, they discovered that she had a malignant brain tumor (DIPG) in her head.

She was examined at the neurosurgery department that night, where they told that the tumor was inoperable due to its location.

We completely collapsed here.

A few days later, the biopsy confirmed the H3K27M mutant, which indicates an extremely aggressive tumor type.

Our ever-moving, restless little girl didn't wake up after a few days.

She received a shunt, but it didn't yield the results they had hoped for.

They prepared us for the worst.

We were transferred to oncology, where they also told us that her life was in danger.

The domestic protocol consists of radiotherapy and a chemotherapy agent called TMZ.

But these only improve her condition symptomatically and temporarily.

Mira denies everything. She has started to be more and more awake and responsive to her surroundings.

Today she can sit again, her left side moves nicely.

Unfortunately, she can't talk or walk yet.

But everything they didn't trust turned out well.

She is a true warrior.

Her power is so great that it cannot be described.

This year, the FDA approved a medicine in America called Modeyso.

This is specifically applicable to her mutation, and has very promising results.

The medicine is currently not registered in Hungary.

But it can be imported upon individual request.

That's why we are still struggling.

This is our only option.

However, the cost of the medicine is 22-23 million HUF (app. 70 000 USD) per month.

As parents, we must do everything we can to ensure that our little girl can play happily among us again.

We cannot raise this amount on our own.
